Wrestlemania 9

1)Intercontinental Championship Match:

Tatanka w/Sherri def. Shawn Michaels (c) w/Luna Vachon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (18:13) - one of the best opening matches in Wrestlemania history. Lame finish with the countout. This was Tatanka's 2nd of two Wrestlemania matches. The other was Rick Martel at WM8. This was Shawn's 5 WM and only his second singles match at Mania. 

Mean Gene interviews the Stiener Bros. 

2) Stiener Bros (Rick & Scott) def. The Headshrinkers (Samu & Fatu)w/Afa ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (14:22) - this was a very hard hitting match. Hard to believe this was the only Stiener Bros Wrestlemania match. Scott did have a battle royal appearance in Wrestlemania 31 that I had completely forgotten about 😆. 

Mean Gene interviews Doink the Clown 🤡 

3) Doink the Clown def. Crush ⭐️⭐️ (8:28) - forgettable match up until the debut of Doink #2. Wish they had given the time Razor and Backlund got to this match. This was the 1st of Doink(Matt Borne) only 2 Wrestlemania matches. WM 10 being the other. This was the 2nd of 4 Wrestlemania matches for Crush and one of his only 2 one on one matches. 

Todd Pettengill interviews a couple of fans in the stands.

4) Razor Ramon def Bob Backlund ⭐️ (3:45) - match should not of been on the card. Would of been better on the pre-show or Raw the next night. 🤷‍♂️ This was Razors 1st of his 5 Wrestlemania matches. While this was also Bob's 1st Wrestlemania match of his 2 Wrestlemania matches.

5) Tag Team Championship Match:

Money Inc. (Ted DiBiase & IRS) (c) vs. The Mega-Maniacs (Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake) w/Jimmy Hart ⭐️⭐️1/2 (18:27)  - 😆 have watched this many times over last 30 + years but this is the 1st time I realized the ref that ran in to call the match a DQ win for Money Ind was Danny Davis. The shady ref from the 80s that wrestled for awhile and was manged by Jimmy Hart making the part of Jimmy tossing him out the ring even funnier. 

Todd interviews Natalie Cole and the CEO of Ceasars Palace in the crowd.

Mean Gene interviews Mr. Prefect backstage 

6) Lex Luger def. Mr Perfect ⭐️⭐️ 1/2 (10:56) - if given more time I would of graded the match with 3 🌟. This would be Luger's 1st Wrestlemania match and Perfect's 4th and final Wrestlemania match. After the match Luger knocks out Perfect. Perfect catches up with him in the back jumps him then he get jumped by Shawn Michaels. Which would plant the seeds for their SummerSlam 93 match.

7) The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer def. Giant Gonzalez w/Havey Wippleman ⭐️ (7:33) - this ties with Backlund/Razor as the wrose match on the card. This would be Giant Gonzalez's 1st and only Wrestlemania. Meanwhile this was the Undertaker's 3 Wrestlemania match and still 3 years away from his 1st quality match at Mania.

8) WWF Championship Match:

Yokozuna w/Mr. Fujit def. Bert Hart (c) ⭐️⭐️ 1/2 (8:55) - Better match than expected. A matter of fact all of Berts matches with Yoko were solid matches. Really wish they had not done Hogan winning the belt from Yoko after coming the new champ. Would of been better if King of the Ring was were Hogan challenged for the title. 🤷‍♂️

My final two cents & Blast from the past: Not the worst Wrestlemania ever 5.1/10 is probably still bottom 10. But its more rewatchable that some of the earliest Wrestlemanias. 

As mentioned in the Stiener Bros interview Michigan the day before in the NCAA Basketball Tournament Final Four beat Kentucky 81-78 in OT to advance to the Championship game the night after Wrestlemania 9. Michigan would go on to lose to North Carolina 77-71. Michigan would later have to vacate their results in the tournament because of Michigan's Basketball scandal due to Chris Webers ineligiblity. Michigan would not make it back to the Final Four or the Title game again until 2013.
